I recently visited Koh Samui with my boyfriend Sam, and we discovered some amazing healthy eating spots to enjoy our post-workout meals after a hard training session in the heat.
Wild Tribe Café
This healthy organic café was our go-to place to go for food whilst in Koh Samui. Located at the visit natural detox resort its menu boasts an array of detox smoothies, acai bowls, vegan dishes and the ability to pick your own protein, carbs and veggies for your plate. Pictured I have poached eggs on wholegrain bread with grilled tomatoes, mushrooms and onion and grilled chicken with organic wild rice and pesto blanched veggies. Our other favourite was the vegan carrot cake with vegan chocolate ice -cream!
Samui Health Shop by Lamphu
Samui health shop quickly became our favourite place to go for an afternoon iced coffee and pick me up. With a range of protein packed vegan treats such as power balls, raw cake, cookies, and even vegan cheesecake made with simply cashews and coconut! Although it’s not just the sweet treats they do well, their baked rice with organic chicken is delicious packed with complex carbohydrates, protein and micronutrients to fuel your adventures on Samui.
Greenlight Café & Bar Samui
The green light has an extensive menu filled with food which would make the health- conscious customer drool. Their nourish bowls are particularly mouth-watering giving you the option to pick a base (carbs), a boost (veggies), a protein, a fresh vegan sauce and an extra crunch (nuts/ seeds). All their meats are all stated to be organic, hormone and antibiotic free which is an extra bonus however, comes with a price and with majority of their meals being vegan the addition of lean protein soon adds up.
Vikasa Organic Restaurant
If you are looking for a fine dining experience on your holiday without going off track then Vikasa Organic restaurant is the place to be. Situated looking over the sea at one of the best view points on the island, you can guarantee exquisite delicate presented healthy food free from MSG, additives and any other nasties. However, again probably over the average traveller’s budget and tiny little poncy portions isn’t really my thing.
Radiance Resort Restaurant
This little restaurant is a gem, located in a yoga retreat on the beach, it hosts plenty of raw and vegan options including raw PIZZA and raw APPLE PIE, talk about cheating clean. With most of their menu being vegan or vegetarian it is hard trying to get in that protein however, the raw vegan desserts make up for this and it is also very affordable.
One of the many reasons I loved Koh Samui so much was because it has such a wide range of healthy eating establishments and you can actually enjoy eating out guilt free.
