I believe we are all born into the universe with a calling, something that we are supposed to be doing with our lives and we won’t ever be happy or settled until we are living in this light. Our soul has a purpose, and until we are pursuing this purpose you’ll always have this niggling feeling which won’t go away. Some people are lucky enough to know what this is straight away, others it takes them years and some never trust their own instincts enough to follow their dreams.

Those who follow my Instagram, will have seen that earlier today I posted about what I have done in the past few weeks to follow my soul’s calling. I have taken the leap that most are afraid to, I am reinventing myself and giving my calling a chance. Because, I never want to ask myself ‘WHAT IF’.
So, let me fil you in… For the past 2 years I have been studying a BA Hons degree in Fashion and Costume. However, I was only on this course because I was good at it at school and I had no other passions. But now I have fitness, which is a huge passion of mine. Alongside having my own struggles of having unhealthy relationships with food and myself- I want to help people going through similar experiences.
I found after going back to university to start my third year at the start of this month, it was making me miserable. I knew it wasn’t the place I should be at all. It was making me unhappy and I was dreading going in to classes. The whole thing was making me very anxious. So… I quit.
It was one of the hardest and scariest decisions I have ever had to make. But the second my mind switched and I decided to leave, I felt relived. I instantly cheered up and felt uplifted and that’s how I know I made the right decision.
Currently, I am now focusing on working towards my personal training qualifications so I can help other people. As well as considering other courses for business, marketing and blogging. I am also working very hard on my blog and building my own business.
Now I can truly say I am following my souls calling. I have taken the leap and ready to start working towards my goals and dreams like a true #girlboss. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy, I am prepared for empty bank accounts, sleepless nights and hard work. But I’m not going to stop until I am there, I have a dream and I am going to chase it.
If you can relate to this post in anyway, or are considering having a change in career, study or even location.
Here are some tips for following your dreams:
You won’t be able to commit to your dreams if you aren’t open to change. You must embrace change and welcome it with open arms. It might mean you have to change location, jobs, routine or courses. But if it’s getting you close to your goals you must work with it. Even if the change is happening in tiny baby steps, go with it and trust it.
“No amount of security is worth the suffering of a mediocre life chained to a routine that has killed your dreams.”
There’s no such thing as perfect timing
If you wait for the perfect time or opportunity, nothing will ever change. The perfect time doesn’t exist, you have to create it yourself. You also can’t wait for someone to give you permission, not everyone will agree, you have to believe in yourself and trust your instincts. Every successful person who took a leap to a new path, will have experienced uncertainty. If it were easy everyone would do it, if you want easy then stay in the safe zone working 9-5 in a job you hate. You must believe in yourself and take the jump.
“We cannot become what we want be remaining what we are.”
Put yourself out there
Nothing grows in the comfort zone. You must put yourself out there, whether it be on social media, meeting new people, or networking. You must put yourself out there to get seen, to make a difference and to grab people’s attention. There are thousands of people doing what your trying to do, you must be different. Building relationships and contacts is essential. If you are chasing a dream you are passionate and authentic about, people will want to help you make it happen. Don’t see it as scary, see it as empowering.
“Always go with the choice that scares you the most. That’s the one that is going to help you grow.”
Trust the Universe
Take pride in the fact we never had a choice, our paths are already written. You’ll get people doubting your dreams and being negative but don’t let other people get in your head- including your own negative thoughts. Your biggest enemy is yourself. Trust yourself and believe in yourself but don’t be afraid of failure, if you don’t try you’ll never know.
Taking risks and making mistakes are all part of the process of being a girl boss. You won’t get automatic success, it take’s time but if you are following your dreams you will fall in LOVE with the process.
“Nobody can do it like you when you are doing what you’re supposed to.”
If you aren’t prepared for failure, hard work and dedication maybe following your dreams isn’t for you. But can you live with yourself knowing your not doing something that makes you so happy you could burst? Do you want to spend the rest of your life going to a job you hate because you never gave yourself a chance? Can you devote yourself to working for someone else to make their dreams a reality instead of pursing your own?
